Julie’s Baby Shower

#OhBaby πŸ‘ΆπŸΌ !! Planning a baby shower is no joke! It’s one of the most exhausting events I’ve planned since planning my wedding. πŸ˜‚ And,  I loved every minute of it!

First things first, choosing a date. After being asked when I wanted to have my shower, I chose to have my baby shower a couple months before bae is due because if she comes early, then we’ll be ready (or close to being ready).

Next, I needed to think of a theme. I went on Pinterest, searching for inspiration and really liked the greenery πŸƒ theme because hubby and I are possibly considering naming Baby H, “Ivy”. πŸ€”☺️

After I decided on my theme, I found a bunch of pictures to put on my inspiration board for the shower (invitations, decorations, flowers, cookies, etc.). Majority of my decorations came from Amazon (thank you Prime Day). I invested in certain items that I know I would use in the future (i.e. photo booth background drop frame and sheer curtains, lit baby letters I will put in her nursery, rose garland, etc.). I also purchased templates of cute signs and fonts off of Etsy for table signs (“Momosa Bar”, Treat yourself Party favors, Guess the Baby’s Birthday).

Party favors for a shower are always somewhat difficult to decide on, only because majority of people do not use it or keep their party favor and they can add up quickly depending on how many people you invite. Luckily for me, my sister-in-law had a girl a few years ago and my mother-in-law threw her shower for her. So, she had the idea of doing goody bags with lip balm and various shades of pink nail polishes with a pink nail file and they came out adorable... and gone!

I had my shower at a restaurant (Cedar Creek Inn Brea) that had an air conditioned patio because I live in SoCal and the month of August is brutal in my area. Having it at a restaurant in the OC where it was 10 degrees cooler was the best decision ever.

For some reason, when I think of baby showers, I think of brunch. Not sure why, I just do (maybe the cocktails?! 🀷🏼‍♀️) While planning the shower with my family, we decided to have it at 11am so that everyone still had time on their Saturday after and it didn’t take all day. The restaurants brunch menu was delicious, affordable and came with dessert (so no need to buy a fancy cake). We hosted a “Momosa” bar for the guests, had fruit and veggie trays for appetizers laid out on a table and could be at the restaurant an hour early to setup the decorations. I’m very blessed to have so many family and friends come early to help me setup. We were able to get everything decorated and laid out within 45 minutes.

The hardest decision I had to make while planning the baby shower was what to wear! I went on Amazon and purchased a super cute and affordable pink, cotton, faux wrap dress for $21.99 and wore  flip flops with bows because my poor feet get swollen super easy and quick. In fact, everything including my under garments (except my earrings and Tiffany’s bracelet) were from Amazon! #Amazonfashions

In hindsight, timing is everything when throwing a shower at a restaurant. There are many factors you need to consider when planning a shower on a 3 hour time limit, such as:

  • What time to have your shower?
  • Which menu suits how many RSVP’s you have?
  • How many games to have?
  • How much time to give to guests to review menu before ordering and finding their seat after arrival?
  • Decide on open seating or seat arrangements?
  • Decide on table setup (long family style tables, round tables, U-shape tables, etc.)
  • Is there enough time to open presents?
  • The list goes on and on...
Below are the pictures from my shower at a restaurant that turned out exactly as I had pictured it. I am extremely blessed to have such amazing family and friends throw this for me and my baby girl! She is loved soo much already and I couldn’t be more thankful πŸ™πŸ»
